2025

2025 was quite a linear line, without huge ups and downs throughout. I could probably put this down as being in my comfort zone. If there’s one thing that I’m always confused and conflicted about - it’s the comfort zone thing. On one side, I feel that I have everything I need and I’m genuinely happy about it. But there’s a slight itch to step out of the comfort zone. I know that’s there will be struggles there initially. But the real worry is, what if it’s not just initial struggles, but constant struggles. This one thought keeps coming back at me, and I’m not able to take a call. Guess the fear of failure is making me hold on tightly to what I have. I’m constantly stuck in this loop for the last 1.5 years or so. I have now taken a baby step of action - which is just switching roles at work. Let’s see how that goes!

As I took a break from Ultimate Frisbee, I’ve slowly gotten back into running. Running with the CTC has definitely been one of the best decisions of the year.  Managed to do a couple of events this year. Though not really worthy (in my eyes) performances, they were still decent, thanks to all those weekly Pallavaram practice runs and a couple of Anjur Repeats. If not for those, it would have been brutal. Gym routines are still an everyday struggle. My mind is still not fully convinced and acceptive of the benefits of the gym - just pray and hope it comes around before it’s too late.

Western Ghats in Monsoon happened again this year too! It was the Kurinjal peak this time. This one was literally like the Kodachadri trek that V and me went 7 years ago, but even more difficult with windy rains slapping your face left and right, on top of the peak.

Decent reading happened throughout the year, across a variety of genres including both fiction and non-fiction. If there is one thing that I’ve been absolutely consistent with this year, it’s got to be journaling. What started as a weekly gratitude notes a few years ago with my friend, slowly turned into regular journaling a couple of years ago, and I’m surprised I managed to continue that this year too!

A few things that have been in my new year resolutions for far too many years but not progressed much are -

1. Car driving - Don’t even know what to write about this. I attended almost 3 sets of driving classes till date, know to drive the car decently, but constantly have the fear of messing it up. The confidence is too low. The only thing that can help is frequently taking the wheel, but I keep procrastinating that. Like always, hoping I win over my own self atleast in 2026.

2. Kitchen Garden / Plant care - I’m guilty of not being to take the time out to work on this at all. It’s even more harder in the new house because there’s just one balcony and even that doesn’t seem to get a lot of sunlight. Need to figure out what can actually be grown in this space. I need something edible, and not just fancy. Hoping I get to nail this one out in 2026.

All in all, wish 2026 keeps me curious and grounded.
